I am a huge fan of the broadway show, Wicked, and have been waiting for the movie adaptation forever. We’ve gotten closer in the last year with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo cast as Glinda and Elphaba respectively. Now joining the leading ladies is Bridgerton star, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero!
Director Jon Chu made the official announcement via twitter:
The film is set to be broken into two parts scheduled for release Christmas 2024 and 2025. In a statement provided by Chu, “We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one ‘Wicked’ movie but two! With more space, we can tell the story of ‘Wicked’ as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys for these beloved characters.”
